Avarice…greed.
It’s a common sin among mankind and has been ever since Lucifer, Adam, and Eve wanted more than God gave them. Greed is birthed in a man’s heart when his flesh or the devil tells him, “You don’t have enough. You deserve more than the scraps God has provided.” Lustful greed then moves in the heart, and if the man does not rebuke himself and repent swiftly, he’s already fallen within, and now all he needs is an opportunity, because he’s begun to seek it. When a man wants to sin, his flesh, the devil, or the world always provides the occasion.
That opportunity came for a Catholic Priest in Nuremberg, Germany in 1530.
